Remote Live Captioning

Using internet streaming technology, participants can sign in to a URL and read instant captions on their laptop, tablet, or mobile device from wherever they are. It can also be captured and displayed for your entire audience.

It’s a fast and simple process that works well for everyone. In order for this to be successful, we need to establish an excellent-quality audio feed and a reliable high-speed internet connection. We have years of experience doing this and are happy to work with IT and/or AV teams to get this part set up. The remote captioning option cuts the expense of travel for our captioners and allows for your access to some very highly skilled captioners who do not have the ability to travel.
On-Site Captioning Services

On-Site Captioning

There are many advantages to having us present at your site. The stenographer sets up their steno machine and laptop on a table in your venue, whether it be a simple conference room, a theatre, or a large bespoke venue.

We can be seated at the front of house, near your AV team, or backstage, depending on your setup and available space. There are multiple ways for us to deliver our captions — on separate text-only screens, or overlaid on your main screen(s). This all depends on the size and scope of your event, your individual preferences as to the design, and what sort of reading experience you and your audience want to have.

We have polled our users and have found that the overwhelmingly most popular option for tech conferences is having separate text-only screens. This allows for approximately a paragraph of context and quick skimming for fast readers, rather than concentrating hard on two or three lines of text that move quickly off the screen.

Having us onsite allows us to be able to read the slides and also be immersed in the culture and energy of your event. We can hear things even more clearly and use the cues on the slides, and therefore our captioning is even closer to 100% perfect. Our audiences love to learn about the work we do, and we are often asked to give lightning talks or demonstrations of our craft during unstructured times at conferences at which we are present. We love to talk about our work — Ask us!
